A New Job!!
August 17, 2004
I am sitting here at my lovely job and the time is a little past 8:00. I am listening to the radio, something I can not do during the day because there are so many people in our office. Five to six people sit in the same office (depending if the VP’s son decides to come in or not), and one of these people has a fridge in his cube and everyone in the department comes in to use it. This causes more traffic then route 95 at 5:01.
So my day starts off good, I have already been here for about an hour and I have finished two tasks on my to-do list. The others start to arrive, the first about twenty minutes late and the others not too far behind, it is a good day, they are all here before 9am. I say my quick good mornings to everyone and get back to work (well actually, back to this….). The others get their coffee and start talking, as they do every morning. This goes on for about a half hour or so. Then everyone settles in and seems to start doing some work. The sad thing is that it is a little past 9:30 am and work actually starts at 8am. These people have not done anything for over an hour! And this happens every damn day!
This got me thinking of the non-work events that people do throughout the day and the so called meetings and conferences people go to. The reason I classified them as “so called” is because when one is asked about their trip all they can talk about is the club and golf course they went to. And then the pictures confirm this, there is not one single picture of a meeting to be seen, just golf and people drinking. I became very upset on the way the corporate world works. I said to myself “self, I think this is why I hate coming to work everyday”. It is not the measly hourly wage that I receive (but of course more money would always help), it is that with all these people in the office we really do not get anything done. And I am the only one who sees it, one co-worker actually told me that “we are professionals” and we are being treated that way. Well, that is nice, but we are so called professionals that are still not getting anything accomplished. So, I guess this means a corporate professional job is not to work, but make it sound like you are over worked.
I was raised that if you work hard you will be rewarded and the corporate world is nothing like that. The corporate world is about spending unnecessary money and bull shiting your way to a good paying position. To me that is very un-ethical and that is why I am looking for another job outside of the corporate world or maybe just simply do more freelance work. I sure hope it is soon!!

Welcome to my blog
As you can see I am not wordy, just like to get to the point in life. The reason I started this was to share a few things from time to time.
The first thing I would like to share is a link to the new JibJab cartoon named Second Term. It is funny but, also a scary reminder of another four years of our country being run as a business and not the land of the free.
